Terms of Service
Last updated: 18 June 2026 · Private beta
These terms govern your use of Fred, a private-beta WhatsApp assistant operated by Crox. By messaging Fred, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
1. What Fred is
Fred is an AI assistant that helps you organise family admin — tracking tasks and reminders, and, if you connect Google, reading the school emails you scope to it and helping with your calendar. It is an early beta and is provided for your convenience, not as a professional service.
2. Who can use it
You must be 18 or older and using Fred for your own family. It's currently invite-only and limited to a small number of testers. Don't share your access or use Fred on someone else's behalf without their knowledge.
3. It's a beta — expect rough edges
Fred is under active development. It may be unavailable, change, or make mistakes. Fred is an AI and can be wrong. Always check anything important yourself — dates, deadlines, what to bring, appointments. Don't rely on Fred as your only record for anything that matters.
4. Not professional advice
Fred does not provide medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and nothing it says should be treated as such. For those, consult a qualified professional.
5. Your responsibilities
- Share only information you're entitled to share, including about other family members.
- Keep your WhatsApp account secure — anyone with access to it can message Fred as you.
- Use Fred lawfully and don't try to misuse, overload, or probe the service.
- If you connect Google, you confirm you're authorised to grant that access.
6. Privacy & your data
How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy. You can ask Fred to delete your data at any time, and disconnect Google whenever you like.
7. Third-party services
Fred relies on WhatsApp/Meta, Anthropic, and (optionally) Google. Your use of those services is also subject to their own terms, and we're not responsible for them.
8. Cost
Fred is free during the beta. We will never charge you without asking first, and we'll give you clear notice before any pricing applies.
9. Ending use
You can stop using Fred at any time — just stop messaging it and ask it to delete your data. We may suspend or end the beta, or your access to it, at any time, including to protect users or the service.
10. Liability
Fred is provided "as is" during the beta, without warranties. To the extent permitted by law, Crox isn't liable for losses arising from your use of Fred — for example, a missed reminder or an error in what Fred tells you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
11. Changes & governing law
We may update these terms as Fred develops and will tell you in the chat before material changes take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
